Hi there! I’m Jay. I’m 28 and originally from Canada. I moved to Texas in 1995 and graduated high school in 2008. I’ve always been into programming from an early age however as a teenager I got really into making music, particularly hip-hop, dubstep, and drum and bass.
I moved to Northern California in 2012 to follow a dream and moved back to Austin in 2015. I started working in the web hosting industry and after a bit of time working for WP Engine, I became fascinated with full stack development. For a hack-a-thon project, myself and a few other team members created a React based, block chain blog platform, and I became enthralled with Javascript for a while.
Recently I became a full time WordPress Applications Engineer, having transitioned from several years as a Support tech, and I’ve released my Genesis Generator plugin that adds a WP CLI command to scaffold a child theme based off of the Genesis Sample theme.
